An All Black discovery

07 September 2023

The Rugby World Cup is to be held in France this year, starting shortly. The New Zealand team one of the favourites for the competition visited the Wellington Quarries in Arras where lo and behold one of their players Tamaiti Williams found details about his great grandfather who had fought in the conflict. The visit to Arras was covered by the newspaper La Voix du Nord and is shown here. If you cannot speak French we think that you will get the gist of it! Arras and all its WW1 sites is about half an hour from the Butte.
