Arras is about twenty miles from the Butte and is easily reached by car. The city with its beautiful squares is renowned for holding public events. Last week for example it was the Sausage Festival. This week sees the Beer festival but surely the crowning glory of them all is on 7 October when the World Championship chip frying competition will take place. Further details will be posted if they become available. This however has to be an event not to miss. Will the winner be a flash in the pan? Will the losers have had their chips? Will it be a sizzling competition? If you are in the Somme/Pas de Calais area at the time, this has to be a must-see indeed.
